BB Cushion Party!

Thursday, September 5, 2013

Laneige has once again invited us for a BB Cushion Party! Fortunately--and unfortunately--it was held after our working hours; fortunately- because this meant that I could attend after work, it is almost impossible for me to take leave these days, and unfortunately- since it was after work, I looked quite tired and unkempt (especially the hair, oh the hair!) after 8 hours of working.

The event was held at My Art Space which is located in a very lovely location at Istana Park, just in front of Plaza Singapura. It's a really lovely setting to hold such an event! Man, if I've known such a space from my teen days I would probably hang out here every time! The event was held to introduce to us their newest products. Silk Intense Lipstick will have 6 new shades and the BB Cushion will now come with #33 for ladies with darker skin tone. (I think that is very wonderful!) Also, they have new Artplay Eyeliners that come in dual colours. And what is even more awesome is we got to take home one of each!

The Laneige staff was quite naughty, we never thought that the event itself would be a contest again, but this time, just for fun! We thought we'd just be designing DIY BB Cushion kits, but we were surprised that we'd be doing paintings instead. If I've known I wouldn't have worn white LOL, I got a bit of paint on it but I seriously don't mind. It was a lot of fun! The winner got to win a prize and the winner was.... ME! Hahaha! So happy~

Although humblebrag aside, I honestly don't want to show my artwork here. If my previous instructors and my college best friend Myk sees this she would probably deny being my friend. LOL. But I have to! Still, I am very grateful that I won! Thank you Laneige for being so generous!

I absolutely love this place!
It can be found at:

Istana Park, 31 Orchard Road, Singapore 238888
Tel 62221662

All covered up against possible stains! (but clumsy me still managed to get spots :/)

Ready, paint, go! :)
Such a coincidence and so fitting that I wore this headress. LOL

Instructions were to paint and represent the 5 (or at least 1 of the 5) benefits of BB Cushion:

  1. Brightening effect
  2. Daily protection agains harmful UV rays ad sun damage
  3. Cooling effect that instantly cools down and refreshes the skin fatigued under heat
  4. Tone correction to medium coverage, creating a clena and natural look
  5. Sweat proof, long lasting coverage.

We were also asked to make a circle in the centre to depict the BB Cushion itself and start from there. We weren't given pencil to come up with a sketch first.. They just wanted us to paint as we like, as we feel.. Which was really a great feeling, very relaxing and carefree, but easy enough to make me panic! Imagine directly painting without even having an initial scheme of what you are supposed to paint about. In the end I just painted as I felt. We were also required to incorporate the gems/"blings" after finishing our artwork.

Our cool mentor!
From left to right: Alene's, Gwen's and mine. (us three again!^^)

Me with my "artwork" LOL. Wanted to go abstract but I soo failed. It was my first time also to paint anything without sketching it out on paper first :(
Together with the lovely beauty bloggers!
So what do I get from winning the contest? *Just* an early christmas present! I feel like a little kid again! Thank you so much Laneige!
Winner's prize for the game! And I got to take it home! Wee!
This is really soo cute!
Apart from this, each of us got one of the new ranges they will be releasing, one Artplay Eyeliner, One BB Cushion with DIY Kit and one of the new colors of the Silk Intense Lipstick! Awesome!

BUT BUT BUT~
If you buy a BB Cushion from Sephora from now until October 2, you will get a free DIY Kit! Once you finish designing it, you can upload pictures at http://bit.ly/LaneigeBBCushion and go to: Upload -> View other designs -> Vote -> Announcement of Winners (Oct 4), and then you can be one of the 3 winners to take home a Laneige hamper worth $300 each!!

Other requirements are:

2. 70% of material has to be from the DIY Kit
3. Winners must present BB Cushion proof of receipt from Sephora Singapore during 5 Sep to 2 Oct 2013.

Flowers and Stars

Wednesday, September 4, 2013

Something I wore for a weekend out. I can't emphasize enough how weird I am so one can't criticize how I mix and match. Lol. Anyway didn't want to be too girly so I wore Chucks together with this very flowery dress... Stars are glow-in-the-dark by the way.^^

Dress: People Are People, Shoes: Converse

Light Denim

This is actually a bit of cheating because all photos below were taken on the same day when I went out for Brunch with Alene and Gwen (previous post). Yet I wanted to separate the outfit post, thus the extra entry.

Dress from Sheinside.com.

The dress was actually a bit big for me, but I love it nonetheless! Love the collar detail!
Wore this also in the afternoon for the Up Dharma Down concert...the weekend was quite tiring but I feel that it was very well spent!:)

Chock Full of Beans

Thursday, August 29, 2013

Met up last Sunday with the lovely girls Gwen and Alene for brunch and decided the venue to be at Chock Full of Beans, which is a bit far off but it was worth visiting! I was late, and Gwen was already there when I arrived, which, luckily for me and Alene, helped us cut the long queue.

Chock Full of Beans
Blk 4 Changi Village Rd
Singapore 500004

Of course we had to try the Latte that they were quite famous for. Latte art was really cute!
Gwen's coffee (kitty) and mine (bear)
Like begging you to "Please don't devour me"

Usually I would expect such artsy coffee to not taste good, but it surprised me by actually tasting just as nice! Mine was vanilla latte, by the way, and Gwen's was Hazelnut Latte. We ended up taking so many pictures of this haha I was guessing people were already starting to think that this was our first time seeing latte art, LOL. As for the food, service was a bit slow. Good thing we chitchatted all the way that we didn't mind that much.

From Top to Bottom: Alene's Eggs Portobello  (w/ Portobello Mushroom), My Eggs Atlantic (w/ smoked salmon) and Gwen's Eggs Benedict (w/ ham)
Eggs Atlantic
The eggs were not bad and for me, were perfect! I was also able to finish all so I must say that it was good. But that may be biased because I think I may have mentioned before that as long as it's salmon, I. am. fine. with. it.

Gwen being pretty as always :D
Coincidentally, Alene and I both wore denim dresses.. haha! A bit awkward but wthwhocares lol.
My beautiful date"s" for the day!
Last photo: the cozy interior of the cafe!

It was a really really lovely morning to have spent with the girls and a relaxing way to destress from the week's work! Absolutely great catching up and getting to know them even better. Hopefully will see them again soon! :)

That's all for now--will be updating another post in a jiffy!:)

The Shortest Poem

Love Trap

I

fall.

I used to write a lot of poems, and since I wrote them when I was very young, they were all about love. (very young being, 10 up to my teen years. I had crushes back then (so young?!)... who never liked me back. lol) I also used to like to write short stories too, about love as well... but, growing up, together with disillusionment, happened. I got tired of it and I've stopped writing when I entered college.

Anyway I was just thinking the other day of how I met my now boyfriend, whom from henceforward will be named in this blog as aiko (his family nickname) and how he lured me into liking him...and how gullible I was. LOL tsk heh.

The above can scarcely be called a poem, but what the heck, I shall make use of poetic license.

Afternoon Tea with Laneige

Saturday, July 13, 2013

So uh, this post is again very late, it has been 2 weeks and you most definitely already know who won the Laneige beauty blogger challenge. It's ALENE!! Yay! *throws confetti* I'm really happy for her and I think she truly deserves it!!:)

If not for her too, I'd have almost forgotten to update, thankfully she asked for the pics and I got reminded about it! I've just been so busy my plans of updating my blog at least twice a week flew with the wind.

I was quite pleased that they did invite us for an afternoon tea party, I thought they were just gonna announce the winners and the 'losers' just have to forget and move on with their lives haha but it was so nice that we all got together again and we got to know each other even better! The girls are really so amazing and I can't emphasize enough how this was the most fulfilling part of the contest.:)

I was the first to arrive (how loserly! haha) and the venue was set at The King Louis Gril and Bar at Vivocity. I was expecting a, for lack of a better term, proper cafe but King Louis was quite good too! You'll see from the pics later that what we had were delectable! I would probably come back soon to try their main course.:)

But I wasn't alone for long, Trissy and Hui Ning came followed by Charmaine :D
A solo photo of Alene that I took because she was so lonely at the other table :D
We waited for a while before the confectioneries were served, and boy do they look yummeh!!
Laneige staff was so thoughtful, the tea that we had also must be good for skin. lol. I chose cherry marzipan!
The tea bag looked so pretty! Tastes nice too!

Us teasing Trissy, touch up also must use Laneige. Lol
Around 3pm they prepared for the announcement of the winner. Qiuqiu was also there to award the prize!
The screen says: And the winner is...
 ALENE!!
Congratulations again!! I think everyone would remember how she said "I didn't expect to win loh", so cute and humble!
Laneige staff surprised Qiuqiu and her best friend Mich for their birthdays!
with two gorgeous girls beside me!
Gwen is really such a darling! I'm so grateful that we became close through this competition. She is as sweet and pretty in personality as her outward appearance! A lot of my friends said they wanted to vote for Gwen but they were forced to vote for me. Haha!
Group photo before we left The King Louis to head down to the Laneige roadshow.
The dress I wore was quite big for me, thus, I look fat. Nah I'm just kidding. Maybe I am fat. LOL
Gwen and I!
I feel so old being with Hui Ning lol
 With the winner!
Hope to see you again girls!

THANK YOU THANK YOU once again to all who voted for me, shared on Facebook, messaged their friends, forced other people to vote... I really am super blessed with wonderful family, friends and even acquaintances! I honestly don't care that I didn't win and didn't even come close to the 1000+ votes. Knowing that I have such wonderful people to support me is more than enough. HONTOU NI ARIGATOU GOZAIMASU!!

Ending this post with the printed picture of me from the roadshow~

Atheism

Wednesday, July 3, 2013

It's starting to annoy me how atheism, rather than pure personal belief, is becoming a trend in the web and social media. Usually I don't care about other people's faith, or absence thereof. I believe in letting other people act according to their own moral standards as long as it's for the good of mankind. I think it's a low blow when people start to ridicule and make fun of others' religions. Moreover, it's like an atheist is now being made synonymous to an intellectual. Yes, there are a lot of highly intelligent individuals who are atheists but not all atheists are smart. Hello, logic please. It got to my nerves because on facebook there are some skeptics who would comment on posts when people thank God for the blessings they receive, and then these trolls post a lot of things about how people who believe in religion are stupid. I mean, come on! If you don't believe it, why bother convincing other people that their god/s are the bane of humanity? Are you trying to convince yourself also in the process?

I suppose you've heard of this: Respect begets respect. And that's exactly what I want believers and nonbelievers to practice!

One of the best things in Singapore is that everyone is allowed to follow their own religion. Despite belonging to different faiths, muslims, christians, buddhists, atheists, live peacefully amongst each other. Because there is respect, and no one holds religion against one other. Isn't that how we want the world to be?

Some say that the teachings of certain religions, for example, Islam and Christianity, are actually responsible for the killings, discrimination and all the problems our society is facing. You know what I think? I think that's bullshit! (sorry for using such a term in this kind of post, but it is.) That's such a sorry excuse for being human! It's not the religion that's causing all those hatred, it's Man himself! We make our own decisions, we act on our own accord, and it's within each of us to choose the correct interpretation of our faith, so please let's not generalize and blame the religion itself, because as far as I know, my God has never taught me to hate or to do evil. And no, I am not against homosexuals. Just to clarify, I also do not agree with overzealousness where people force others to join their religion, or become so obsessed with it that they end up doing heinous acts in the name of their faith. This is where problems arise, in the minds of men, and not in the religion itself.

I may not be a perfect Catholic, but then again, who is? Not only as a religious person, but as a human being everyone is bound to make mistakes. You who ridicule others, are you perfect? Do you know everything? Every single thing? No, right?

If you are standing up for your own principles, good for you. I have utmost respect for atheists who are what they are because they have come up with their own axioms and stand by it. But if you're out there saying you don't believe in any god just to impress and make people think you're smart, I'd want to say go to hell but you don't believe in it, so maybe just, just shut up until you actually know how to formulate your own hypotheses and not the ones you browse on the web. Maybe then you'll actually know how to make good use of life instead of wasting it away trolling on the internet.
